Patterned as closely as possible after the Gewehr 98 military rifle, the "Wehrmannsgewehr" was intended for civilian or paramilitary target practice, using the commercial 8.15x46 cartridge instead of the 7.92x57, which was restricted post-WWI. Blade front and tangent rear sights with graduations from 4-20. The barrel has the serial number on the left and "BL.G./Sch.H." caliber marking on top, both at the breech. The receiver has commercial "crown/letter" proofs, the serial number, with the standard Mauser military style markings and 1911 date on top of the receiver ring. Unlike many Wehrmannsgewehr rifles, this example was not manufactured in single shot configuration. Smooth pistol grip stock, with a flat steel buttplate marked on the right with an ornate monogram style logo and "F.O.T." which may be related to one of many Weimar-era paramilitary groups. There is a 1930 dated sticker on the bottom of the stock marked "DEUTSCHES/BUNDESSCHIESSEN/KOLN" for "German Federal Shooting Koln". Provenance: The Buckstix Collection

Very fine as postwar reworked, retains 90% plus of the blue finish, the receiver mostly bright, with some scattered light edge wear and handling marks. The refinished wood is fine with some minor dings and scratches scattered throughout. Mechanically excellent.
