Blued Winchester Proof Steel barrels with dual white bead sights on the matted vent rib which is marked "CUSTOM BUILT BY WINCHESTER", standard Winchester barrel markings, 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, and chokes marked "MOD"/"FULL". The barrels display beautiful 3 1/2 inch wedges of floral scroll engraving and bands at the either breech as well as 1 1/2 inch wedges a the muzzles. The blued action features the Grand American pattern of engraving with gold inlaid setter on the left, a gold inlaid pointer on the right, a gold bust of a dog on the trigger guard, and a gold inlaid seal of the United States House of Representatives on the underside all carried out by Winchester engraver Hank Bonham. The surrounding areas are covered with floral scrollwork, and the fences have deep oak leaf engraving also done by Bonham. Single selective gold plated trigger with tang mounted manual safety switch. Beautifully figured Winchester 21-B pattern fluer-de-lis checkered forend carried out by Winchester stock carver John Durkin and an ebony inlaid tip, rotary latch release, and engraved fittings. The pistol grip stock is of equal beauty and features the "GRAND/AMERICAN" grip cap, blank inscription oval, and leather wrapped recoil pad. Included with the gun is a second matching 28 inch vent rib barrel set with 2 3/4 inch chambers with ejectors and chokes marked "WS-1"/"WS-2". Also included is a leather bound takedown case with U.S. House of Representatives badge and marked W.B.J. on the lid and cover. An included copy of the Buffalo Bill Historic Center letter and factory order sheet confirm the configuration of the "A" gun and a final inspection date of March 11, 1981 with shipping date of May 11th of the same year. The "B" gun has a Winchester factory letter confirming its configuration and shipping date of May 1st, 1981. There is also included documentation and research on the gun including a letter from former Winchester engraver Pauline Murrle confirming those who worked on the "A" gun; however, it is very likely that these men also did the work on the "B" gun as they are a matched pair. No information on the original purchaser was provided; however, research shows that this shotgun likely belonged to U.S. Representative Walter B. Jones Sr. Jones was in office from 1966 to 1992 as the Representative from North Carolina's 1st District.
