Description:

Originally manufactured for World War II, while in theory the 1928A1, M1 and M1A1 Thompsons were rendered obsolete by the M3 and M3A1 "Grease Gun" SMGs, the Thompson lived on as a substitute weapon into the 1970s, seeing active use in Korea. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with the cooling fins and Cutts compensator on the barrel. In addition to the standard markings "R.L.B.", circled "GEG", and "flaming bomb" proofs are present on the left side near the magazine housing. The trigger group is numbered to a different Savage Thompson, with a "FULL/AUTO"/"SINGLE" selector switch and "FIRE"/"SAFE" safety switch. The gun is configured to accept both stick and drum magazines, and the bolt is "Blish lock" equipped with a narrow spring guide, mobile firing pin and spring steel oiler assembly. The buttstock is the quick detach model with blue finish on the metal components and a trapdoor buttplate. Included with the lot is an unmarked "FBI" style transport case, two cleaning rods, four stick magazines, two Auto-Ordnance "Type L" 50-round drum magazines and an extra winding key.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 80% of the refinished dark blue finish, showing some mild edge wear and handling marks overall. The wood components show some light dents and scuffs overall. The otherwise very good case shows significant exterior wear. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11.
