Manufactured in 1920 and subsequently beautifully embellished with a high quality engraving. The receiver is decorated with fine floral scrollwork on a punch dot background and simple borders along with engraved screw heads. The forend cap and takedown collar are also engraved. The finely checkered and engraved trapdoor buttplate contains a four piece cleaning rod with brush attachment and T-handle. The left side of the barrel has the two-line Winchester legend, two-line nickel steel marking and "45-70." A Winchester factory oval proof is stamped on top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The upper tang has the three-line Model 86/trade mark information. Fitted with a dovetail Lyman beaded blade front sight and an elevation adjustable rear sight. The multi-point checkered forearm and straight grip stock are select walnut. The buttstock has a right handed cheek piece and "WCR" inscribed initial silver oval on the underside.
