Description:

Manufactured in February of 1944. The Type 99 Machine Gun was designed to replace the earlier Type 96; while the 96 was chambered to match the then-standard 6.5mm rifle cartridge, the 99 was chambered in the same 7.7mm cartridge of the Arisaka Type 99 rifle, with some other improvements also implemented. Blade front and knob adjustable peep rear sights, with a fixed carry handle and conical flash hider on the ribbed barrel, bipod and bayonet lug fitted to the gas system, and the Showa date of "19.2" on the right side of the receiver below the serial number. The grip is smooth hardwood, with a smooth buttstock and integral folding steel monopod.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally restored, with 95% of the refinished blue, showing some mild handling marks, areas of brown patina, and some covered pitting. There are traces of what look like cleaned-up welds where the barrel and receiver meet, suggesting that the item may have been "reactivated". The stock is very good, with a number of chips, dents and scuffs. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
