Manufactured in 1916. Single brass front sight bead. The action bar is roll-stamped "MODEL 1897/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK REG. IN U.S.PAT.OFF."" in three lines, and the barrel is marked "12 GA." and "CYL" along with the Winchester address and patent information. Oval Winchester "W/P" proofmarks are stamped on the top of the barrel and the receiver. The serial number "E/641324" is roll-stamped across the bottom of the receiver. No U.S. Ordnance marks are present on the gun. Mounted with an 18-groove forend and smooth pistol grip stock fitted with a checkered hard rubber Winchester buttplate. Length of pull is 13 13/16 inches.
Very fine, retaining 75% original blue finish, scattered freckling, and overall mild handling evidence. There is a chip at the toe of the buttplate, otherwise the wood is also very fine. Mechanically functions, but slide does not fully retract.
