Manufactured in 1885 as a Third Model with the integral dust cover rail and dust cover with grip serrations at the rear. The standard two-line address and King's patent marking is on the top barrel flat along with the caliber marking at the breech. The bottom of the cartridge elevator is marked "38 CAL." The upper tang is marked with the model designation and the serial number is on the lower tang. It is fitted with a beaded blade front sight and elevation adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight, and is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a trapdoor crescent buttplate. Includes a four-piece cleaning rod inside the stock.

Fine, retains 60% plus of the original blue finish, 40% of the original nitre blue on the loading gate, and 30% of the original case colors with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina. The wood is fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches, and retaining most of the varnish. Mechanically excellent.
