Originally manufactured by Norinco and imported by Inter-American as a semi-automatic rifle, this 56S-1 has been upgraded by Special Weapons to full auto configuration, making it a close copy of the military issue Chinese Type 56 assault rifle. Hooded post front and tangent rear sights, with an angled blast deflector on the threaded muzzle, the original "Factory 66" triangle, model and serial number markings on the left side of the trunnion, and the importer and Special Weapons markings on the underside of the stamped receivers. The receiver has been altered to accept the auto-sear and supporting "third pin", with the three-position selector switch marked "S", "(blank)" and "F" for safe, full auto and semi-automatic. Matching numbers have been added to the dust cover, bolt carrier, bolt and gas cylinder. Fitted with a smooth pistol grip and an underfolding stock.

Very fine as upgraded to full auto, with 97% of the factory quality blue finish, showing mild wear and handling marks overall. Some light dings and scratches are present on the wood. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
