Manufactured c. 1915-1921 and subsequently custom embellished by a very skilled artisan. This is a highly attractive Mauser Broomhandle pistol features gold inlaid floral patterns throughout, with double headed bird motifs and engraved clamshell pattern motifs on either side. The top of the chamber area is marked "WAFFENFABRIK, MAUSER, OBERNDORF A/N", and the right side is marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/OBERNDORF A. NECKAR". The tangent rear sight is graduated from 50-1,000 meters. Replacement reproduction plastic grips. Import marked barrel extension. Includes a walnut holster/shoulder stock with exquisite custom relief carved floral patterns on punch dot background, with the matching number "799" marked on the attaching iron.
Very fine as professionally custom embellished, retains 98% blue finish, 99% gold inlay, with a few light handling marks. Replacement grips are also very fine. Mechanically excellent. Stock is fine as professionally embellished, with a few small non-structural hairline cracks at the bottom rear, a few light handling marks, and crisp carving overall. This highly attractive embellished Mauser Broomhandle pistol would make a fine addition to any high end art or firearms collection!
